Abstract
The objectives of this stu.dJ’ were (i) to report the
mo cpho logical, physical and cherm c a L properties of the
representa.tive soils (ii) to compare diffe:cent mothods of
gypsum uetermiuation (iii) to investi3ate tIle effect of
gypsum on different physical and chem.ical properties of
the soils (iv) to identify the different calcium sulphate
and clay minerals occurring in bheae soils. (v) to expLor e
the distribution patterns of heavy minerals within the
different soil fractions and throughout the profiles.
