Abstract Four field experiments were carried out at Ismailia Agricultural Research Station on sandy soil under sprinkler irrigagatian system. The cultivated crops were wheat (Triticum aestivum vulgars cv Sakha 69) during 1’:199-2000 and corn (Zea mays, variety T. W. C321) during 2000. The main objectives of the study are to investigate the effect of different Kc values and rates of applied nitrogen fertilizers for both crops. Field experiments also aimed to determine the effect of SMD, 50% withholding irrigation water before and after heading, before and after tasseling on some water relations, yield and yield variables. The obtained results indicate that percent water uptake by the 4 quarters of wheat and corn root depths were45.56, 27.97, 14.04 and 11.43 as well as 38.07, 28.76, 17.41 and 15.76, respectively. Generally, all treatments significantly affected their yields and NUE’ s. Decreasing the depth of irrigation water and I increasing SMD as well as, rates of N fertilization and partial withholding irrigation water at the vegetative growth stage I increased N% of grain and straw yield. |
