Abstract Two field experiments were conducted in the experimental farm of agriculture research station , ARC at Ismailia during 200112002 and 2002/2003 seasons to study the effect of three summer preceding crops (peanut, sesame and sunflower) and three seeding rates 40, 60 and 80 kg/fad. on growth, yield and its components as well as yield quality of two wheat varieties (Sakha 8 and Sakha 93) under sprinkler irrigation in newly sand soils at Ismailia. -Over the two seasons, growing wheat after peanut significantly surpassed wheat following sesame or sunflower in growth characters, grain, straw and protein yields /fad. and grain protein percentage. -Over the two seasons, Sakha 93 variety significantly exceeded Sakha 8 in growth characters, number of tillers and spikes/m/ , number of spikes/plant, number and weight of grain/spike and grain yield /fad. While Sakha 8 variety significantly surpassed Sakha 93 in plant height at harvest, spike length, 1000-grain weight, grain protein percentage and straw, biological and protein yields/fad. -Over the two seasons, increasing seeding rates from 40 to 60 and 80 kg/fad. significantly increased plant height at harvest, number of tillers and spikes/m’ and straw and biological yields /fad. while seeding rate of 60 kg/fad. significantly outvielded 40 and 80klllfad. in grain and protein yields/fad. |
