Abstract The presented thesis aims to study the performance of heat pipe engine with two cylinders. One of them is the driver for the other one to be an integrated engine. The presented work also aims to mathematically model the heat pipe engine for simulating its performance. The thesis is divided into two integrated parts: The first part treats design, manufacturing, and operating the engine with R11 as a working fluid. A computerized data acquisition system is attached to the engine to detect the performance. , The second part concerns the deducing of the governing mathematical relations from the thermodynamics and kinematics point of view. These relations are put in a form a computer program for simulating the engine performance. The main results of the presented thesis are fulfilled by accepting the mathematical model after comparing its output results with both the experimental and published one. Also, the fruitful result is that by increasing the charging mass in the engine, the amount of mechanical output work increases while the overall efficiency of the engine decreases. |
