Abstract Aim of the work Is to evaluate left ventricular function in non insulin dependent diabetics in the absence of clinically manifested heart disease or abnormalities after treadmill stress using non invasive method by M mode and Doppler echocardiography. Conclusion In conclusion, these results may indicate that the presence of diabetic cardiomyopathy may be reflected early by the impaired left ventricular diastolic function which may later on present clinically with the overt left ventricular failure with increased left ventricular end diastolic dimension demonstrated echocardiographically. Whether the control of the glycemic state and the correction of the lipid and lipoprotein patterns, may interfere with development of this entity of subclinical diabetic cardiomyopathy, these data did not point to such possible recommendation, yet this may need further follow up studies to assess the possible role of control of these parameters on the development and or progress of this entity of cardiomyopathy. |
