Abstract Aim of the work Is to evaluate treadmill stress test versus Holter monitoring in detection of silent myocardial ischemia in patients with chronic stable angina. Conclusion From the present study we concluded that symptomatic ischemia is more revealed on treadmill exercise test 50% versus 41% during Holter monitoring. But silent ischemia is more clearly revealed during Holter monitoring 54% versus 29% on treadmill exercise test. The two methods of investigation seem to complement each other in clinical practice for identifying a subgroup of patients with stable CAD at a higher risk for cardiac events and who will require further investigations and careful consideration of treatment. Where facilities are ambulatory monitoring are limited or not available, treadmill exercise test should provide a means of identifying the majority of such patients. Particularly if the test is positive at low work leads. |
