Abstract
Until very recently the utilization of non-conventional sources of energy has been very limited in application due to the economical reasons. With the rapid development of modern technology during recent years, Scientists are trying to improve the economy of utilizing thesis an attempt has been made to evaluate the prospects of wind energy along the northern coasts of Egypt.
Preliminary survey of the northern coast of Mediterranean showed that it is a promising windy region.
Alexandria has been taken as an example for other sites on the nor then sea shore to study the wind speed distribution and behavior.
Wind speed is the main factor to study the design data and economical evaluation of windmills system to be built in a certain location
in this thesis, Two predictive models for wind speed in Alexandria area are constructed on the basis of hourly wind speed records over a window of 20 years obtained from alocal weather station in Alexandria.
