المستخلص The aim of the work was to answer questions of clinical relevance using in vitro testing methods. Moreover, this study was focused on the factors that might affect the degree of primer or bonding resin infiltration into the demineralized dentin and consequently could affect the bond. The methods used to evaluate the bond between resin composite and dentin were the bond strength test and scanning electron microscopic analysis. A comparison was conducted between the shear test and the microtensile test. The findings showed that both tests could be used without affecting the results of the factors tested. It was preferable to use the microtensile test as it has advantages over the shear test. The results showed that dwell time was an important factor in achieving the bond. The scanning electron microscopy was an efficient tool in assessing the quality of the bonding zone, but it was not the ideal tool to measure quantitative data. |
