Abstract In the industrial field, two words are commonly used to describe the• body & brain of any industry. The body is the “Process” while the brain is the “Control”. The steps that should be followed to reach the final products orto reach the target are called the “Process”,While the Control’ widely means what should be (lone to guarantee that nothing goes wrong during any step of the process. As the process may vary from simple to the most complicated one, the control also can be as simple as the bi-metallic strip used to control the temperature of an iron or as complicated as that in nuclear power stations 01 ace ships. Control has been realized to be indispensable in any industry. The more complicated or the larger the industry is, the more the need becomes foi a reliable and more developed control system. The design of complex production systems is used on several distinc control levels, Generally speaking, five levels are defined :- Long term planning and management, - Short term planning and shop loading, - Monitoring and real-time scheduling, - Co-ordination of subset (cells),- Local machine control. The lower three levels constitute the real-time control of the system. The objective of this thesis is to show the integration of these levels, which is done by the process computercontrol, as the modem technique is o paramount importance. The. methodology in this thesis will be presented in two steps. |
