Abstract
Certain synthetic Pyrethroids are becoming of over increasing important as insecticides for controlling cotton pests in Egypt.(Cotton leafworm , Spodoptera littoralis (Boisd) and bollworms j.c. pink bollworm,pectinophora gossypiella (Saund)and spiny bollworm, Earias insulana(Boisd)).
The effect of larval food on the biology of cotton leafworm and the larval susceptibility to synthetic pyrethroids have been investigated . Also the specific activity of esterases in susceptible larvae and in larvae fed on different host plants were deterined .
The effect of five synthetic pyrethroids on the population of bollworms in cotton field was carried out.
The selective effects of these insecticides one the arthropod predators in cotton ecosystem were also investigated . The experimental five nynthatic pyrethroide includes deltamethrin , cypermethrin,alphamethrin, pp321 and flucythrinate.
