Abstract
ِAlexandria is one of the largest cities in the middle east with respect to population size as well as industrilization.The impact of industrial pollution in the city of Alexandria is most evident from the intensive industrial waste disposal of plants located near and along the coastal zone of the city.Industrial wates coming mainly from Kafr El-Dawar factories are discharged into El-Tabia Drain at a distance of about 15 Km from its outlet to Abu-Kir Bay.In addition,factories at El-Tabia zone(Rakta and El-Ahlia paper companies,and kaha canning company dispose directly into El-Tabia drain a short distance up El-Tabia pumping station.The effect of such polluted water on the bay can be seen with the naked eye by noticing the natural change of the bay water around El-Tabia outfall particularly during the calm weather.Abu-Kir Bay lies along the Egyptian Mediterranean coast,about 25 Km east of Alexandria>It is a semicircular shallow basin of about 20 m maximum depth.Its depth increase gently seaward,and the average water depth is nearly 10 m.
