Abstract

The mediterranean fruit fly Ceratitis capitata (Wied) is considered the most important economic fruit fly attacking fruits in Egypt . Many contributions have been made on the insect biology, ecology and control . Autocidal control has been recognized as a modern approach to the insect combat. Sterile male release technique proved to be an efficient role in integrated control programmes.
The present work has been attempted on a laboratory reared colony of C . capitata maintained at 27 ± 1°C and 60-65% R.H. Larvae were fed on artificial dite (carrotmedium) ,for adults a mixture of sucrose and enzymatic yeast hydrolyzate at the ratio 8:1 was used. Mass-rearing procedure was the same as described by Hafez and Shoukry (1972).
Effects of tepa [Tris (1-aziridiny1) phosphine oxide] and metepa [Tris (2-methy1) aziridiny1 phosphine oxide] at different concentrations were assessed on the immature and mature stages.
