Abstract
This study has been undertaken to investigate the possibility of using some local residues instead of peat as carrier materials for the production of legume inoculants and the response of soybean and lentil to inoculation with these includes the chemical and physical analyses of these carrier materials and the sterilization methods using either autoclave or gamma radiation.
The study also includes the testing of several available commercial sources of carbohydrates to replace mannitol for the production of rhizobial biomass and study the suitable oxygen rates for securing higher yield of rhizobial cells.
