Abstract In recent years, submerged breakwaters have been used for shoreline protection, pipeline protection in shallow water, and even for harbor protection because of their low cost and effectiveness in attenuating high waves. The design of submerged structures is being developed and more research is being conducted to better understanding of the response of these structures to sea waves and currents. The present investigation has been conducted in the following manner: (1)by studying the problem theoretically (2)by conducting experiments under controlled wave condi The theoretical studies which have been done simul taneously with-the-.laboratory studies, and their comparison with other theoretical and experimental results of different investigators are presented. The comparisons and disagree¬ments have been obtained in the light of the physics of the motion. |
