Abstract Four blue-green algea, i.e, synechococcus rubescens, synechococcus cedrorum, Chroococccidiopsis sp, and Oscillatoria geminate, were tested for their ability to grow in different concentrations of seawater (5,10, o 20% V/V) as well as their ability to produce some pharmacy relevant constituents. The freeze-dried biomass of the investigated cyanobacterial species were also tested for their capacity to adsorb heavy metalions from aqueouse solutions the results of this work can be summarized in the following points: 1- Accumulation of the biomass are related in diversity to the concentration of seawater in the DSN medium. 2- The highest biomass production on the basis of dry weight were obtained from synechococcus rubescens (10%, V/V SW), synechococcus cedrorum (20%), Chroococccidiopsis sp. (5%_and oscillatoria geminate (20%) in ascending order. 3- The large scale-system for biomass production shows mor sitmulation for the growing cells stirred at high rotation rate. 4- The chlorophyll-a decrease with growth increasing independently upon the concentration of seawater in DSN-medium… |
