Abstract

1.1 An Outline of Previous Work
Recent advancements in the technology of microprocessors have enhanced the use of digital control systems. One of the fundamental problems in digital control systems is to design a digital controller to make the output of the system track a specific reference input with an error which becomes zero exactly in a finite time and holding it for all time thereafter. Early results to solve this problem utilized z-transform techniques”’. With state feedback and observer controller schemes, deadbeat systems could he obtained by positioning all of the poles of the compensated system at the origin``’.
A more subtle situation is encountered when one wishes the output of a continuous plant to track a reference signal; while the plant is driven by the output of a digital circuit followed by a holding device”’. The implementation of such scheme is very convenient with the spread of microcomputers.
