Abstract

- the primary salt-affected soil irrigated with saline water resulted in increasing the electrical conductivity from 5.69 to 7.15 mmhos/cm, while exchangeable na+level wasraised from 14.96 to 21.32 me/100 g of soil , likewise pH values were raised from 8.25 to 8.31.
Generally ,throughout amelioration process for both levels of salt-affected soils in either root-zone or bulk soil, gypsum or sulphur as chemical amendments were used beside the control of untreated replicates. It showed that the beneficial affect appeared firstly in the control until 60days of the beginning of applicance of tap-water irrigation, it was followed by sulphur-treated soil at 60 days and continted to 240 or 180 days after cultivation in primary, of secondary salt-affected soil samples . finally, until the rest of the exoerimental period, the most effective treatment was gypsum.
