Abstract This study was carried out in the soil science department of the faculty of agriculture, mania university to evaluate the effects of one of the synthetic super absorbent materials ”terra- sorbs” (it’s.) compared with two local organic material (abalone and cotton seed hulls(O.S.H))as a natural super absorbent materials on some hydro physical properties and the plant growth conditions of sandy and calcareous soils of Egypt. The studied soils were treated with T.S. at three rates of application (0.75, 1.00 and 1.50 ton/fed.),and with both akalona and O.S.H at three rates of application (5.0, 7.5 and 10.0 ton/fed )to two different depths (0-5 om. and 5-10 om. )from the soil surface. Pot experiments with corn, broad bean and sun flower as test crops were conducted to study the effect of superabsobent materials on plant growth, yield, water consumption and up take of plant nutrients in sandy and calcareous soils. |
