Abstract

FAULT DIAGNOSIS OF COMPLEX PROCESSES HAS BECOME AN IMPORTANT TASK. THE MAIN OBJECTIVE OF FAULT DIAGNOSIS IS TO INDICATE UNDESIRED OR UNPERMITTED PROCESS STATES AND TO TAKE APPROPRIATE ACTIONS IN order TO MAINTAIN THE OPERATION AND TO AVOID DAMAGES OR ACCIDENTS. FUZZY LOGIC HAS A GREAT POTENTIAL IN FAULT DIAGNOSIS.KNOWLEDGE-BASED METHODS ARE NOT ONLY USEFUL FOR FAULT CLASSIFICATION AND EVALUATION OF TYPES AND PHYSICAL CAUSES OF PROCESS FAULTS, BUT THEY ARE ALSO SUITABLE FOR THE MODELING OF THE PROCESS BEHAVIOR.IN THIS WORK, THE FUZZY LOGIC IS USED IN RESIDUAL GENERATION, RESIDUAL EVALUATION, AND FAULT ANALYSIS.
