Abstract

This thesis is concerned with the development of a microprocessor based d.c. drive system.
The system consists of a d.c. motor drIver., from ’she out¬put of a single phase fully controlled thyristor bridge. The signals required to drive the driver circuit feeding
e
th thvristor gates are generated by
the microprocessor using software techniques. The processor also acts as a
3
controller to modify and even stabilize the system under the different operating conditions. The controller input
L
is the difference ( error signal between the input reference ( speed proportional signal ) and the actual output speed. Both, the input and output, signals are measured by A/D channels.
’The difference is fed to the controller. The controller output controls the count of two programmed counters. ’The counter output provides the thyristor gate signals
,Yj_L.h l roc r c uired delay -angle. Each of the two programmed
counters provides the gate signals for each thyristor Group ( each group consists of two thyristors conducting simultaneously ) . The whole operation is synchronized with the supply.
Different control algorithms have been proposed taking into consideration the particularities of the system under study. Digital simulation using different types of controllers was carried out to choose the controller
