Abstract The present paper is a trial to evaluate the rate o£ heat transfer coefficients on air jet cooled meta~ lIic surfaces. In ~pite of its technical difficulties, the heat £low meter principle was used to compare the local heat transfer coefficients. Six heat flow meters were distributed on the surface o£ an aluminum sheet plate. The cooling air impinged normally on the plate through a 2- dimensional air nozzle width B=1/8”and 1/4”.the space beyween nozzle and plate was varied, and experiments were carried out for ratios Z-2,8,10 and 14,with re-5500-20360.the plate temperature was kept low to avoid excessive radiation losses. The results were experessed in dimensionless form to enable calculating the nusselt number at any point on the plate surface within the range of experiments. the plate through a 2-dimensional air nozzle width B • ~ n and t”.
