Abstract
In recent years, much attention has been focused on the
development of distributed computer systems~ Previouslay, a major deterrent to the distributed approach was its high
cost. The technology of computing has been such that a
collection of small computers cost more than a large
computer in the same capability. However, the situation has
changed in the Past few years due to the advent of LSI technology. Low-cost computing Power in the form of
minicomputers and microcomputers presents an attractive
alternative to large computers for many computing tasks, this trend will be increased in the future.
The distributed computer system also provides
significant advantages, including wood performance, goo-J
reliability, wood resource sharing, and extensibility.
In a distributed system environment it is desirable to eoualize the usages of resources (balance the load) in order
to reduce the response time of Jobs and improve th~ utilization of the resources. Say an interesting research
Problem arises in the design of a distributed computef,
system’ namely how to- improve its overall performance
balancing the workload over the entire system, This can
done through one or both mechanismsk task scheduling and job scheduling.
