Abstract
The goal of this thesis is to provide a detailed perspective of future fuel trends and an assessment the ability of marine power plants to cope with fuels in future.
The study starts with reviewing the different of fuel used in marine propulsion from the point of orgin contents properties and classifications well as the change in price of the most important.
A brief review about power plant classification factors affecting propulsion plant selection and share of each type in marinme field is also presented.
Forecast of energy requirements and supplies in the year 2000,including energy needed for ships and world trade position in the future were anticipated.The availability of different fuels,fossil fuels.compositions and coal based synthetic fuels,expected to produce the required energy for ships were throughly treated and discussed.Technicalevaluation of different power plants using the various types of proposed fuels.
