Abstract Wording to the UNIDO statistical studies it was found that the leather goods production in Egypt increases at an anual rate of 1242 percent. The exports of leather products reached high figures, part of which is exported as ready—made shoes to middle eastern countries and soma European countries. It was thought that improvements in the leather dyeing processes may lead to the increase in fine leather articles from skins. There is a great opportunity for expansion in the leather goods industry since Egyptian raw hides and shins are con¬sidered to be among the best in the world. They have a very smooth grain surface with no injuries, bruises or cuts and they also have few warble fly damages. The present investigation deals with the preparation of a new class of chlorohydrin reactive dyestuffs and testing their usefulness as leather dyestuffs. This investigation includos the following reactions: a) Preparation of chlorohydrin reactive dyestuffs from simple and cheap raw materials and with no additional machinery |
