There were statistically significant differences between the mean scores of experimental group and control group in their performance of the post application of the reading comprehension test as a whole and its subskills favoring the experimental group .
The SQ3R reading system was effective in developing reading comprehension skills .
It was concluded that the proposed program proved to be effective in developing the necessary reading comprehension skills among the experimental group students. A set of recommendations were presented together with suggestions for further research.
