Abstract

One of the main advantages of new wireless systems is freedom to make and receive cells any where and at any time . It is essential to mention that hand overs are a key concept in providing this mobility . To meet the growing demand for wireless access to voice , data , and multimedia services , current wireless communication technologies need further and continuous improvement to make it possible for users to travel from one cell to another while laving a seamless connection with a high quality of service in spite of the rapid increase of wireless subscribers.
The aim of this study is to investigate the concept of handoff procedure in wireless systems using is to investigate the concept of handoff prioritization techniques to help eliminating unwanted effects ; such this methods are evaluated in terms of some performance metrics.
After providing a survey for handoff in wireless communications , the fund awe ntals of handoff perdamentals of handoff procedure in wireless system , its types and performance metric , handoff descision strategies are introduced. The thesis provides an investigation of the handoff prioritization scheme, the first in first out (fifd) and the me assortment – asurement – bused prioritization scheme ( MBPS) with analytical and theoretical approaches the work finalizes with developing a simulation model to evaluate the performance of the handoff prioritization. Schemes . The comparison is made in terms of the blocked and the call DROPping probabilities.
