Abstract
Guar (cyamopsis tetragonoloba, L. plant belongs family leguminosae and commonly cultivated in Egypt. It is grown principally for green fodder and for the pods that used in food and feed. The primary importance of guar is the commercial value of its seed gum, which called (galactomannan gum). This gum has a wide variety of food and non-food uses. The gum content in the seeds ranged from 11.23 to 26.23%. this gum is used in industry and pharmaceutical preparations. The seeds of guar contain also 34%protein and 4%fixed oil. Moreover, guar has soil enriching properties since it is a legume.
In the present investigation two field experiments were conducted during two successive seasons of 1997 and 1998 at the experimental farm, medicinal and station aromatic plant section, agricultural research section at mallawy, minia governorate.
