Abstract The okra cultivars; pusa swani, white velvet, and Emerald were used in crossing for the study the mode of inheritance of some characters in okra (Abelomoschus (Hibiscus) esculentus (L.) Monech. Four crosses were made as follows: Cross No. 1: pusa swani × white velvet Cross No. 2: white velvet × pusa swani Cross No. 3: pusa swani × Emerald Cross No. 4: white velvet × Emerald The parents and F1’S population were grown and crossed from 1990 to 1991 to get the F2’S and first backcrosses to both parents. In 1992, the six generations (P1, P2, F1, F2, Bc.P1 and Bc.P2) of each cross were grown at the Experimental farm, faculty of Agriculture, El-Minia University. Data were collected and proper statistical procedures were followed. |
