Abstract Aim of the Work The aim of this work is to discuss results of two methods of local flaps in reconstruction of thumb defects, namely: (1) Moberg flap. (2) Cross-finger flap. CONCLUSION On conclusion, we found that the age of the patient has an important role in the frequency of injury as most of thumb injuries affected middle aged individuals. Also the occupation has a direct relation to the frequency of injury, as most patients were butchers and machinery worker. Moberg advancement flaps provide a rapid one-stage procedure with good contour, color match and 2 PD. But needs meticulous flap dissection to avoid flap loss that is not uncommon. Cross-finger flaps are very reliable methods that can provide a sufficient amount of tissue to cover a big defect with accepted contour, color match, 2 PD and post-operative pain and tenderness. They have very minimal rates of flap loss. But they are a two-stage operation, which found objection from some patients. In old age patients, it may cause joint stiffness. |
