Abstract
Three local strains of chickens , Dandarawi, Dokki-4 and Mandarah as well as white Hi-Sex commercial breeders ”egg-type” were crossed in all possible combinations. A 4 X 4 diallel mating system was used. This study was carried out in order to utilize of Hi-Sex parent stocks in the improvement the performance of the local strains of chickens.
The studied traits were, fertility, hatchability, viability at 8 weeks of age , body weight at 8 weeks of age, body weight at age of sexual maturity, age at sexual maturity, hen-housed production, egg weight, shell thickness and Haugh units.
