Abstract Fish of the family cichlidae constitute an important food source providing about 62.0% of total inland fish catch of Egypt and represent 88.8% of the cichlid fish catch in lake edku (fishery statistic, 1991). The present study deals with deals with the biometry and biometry and biology (growth, feeding and reproduction) of the cichlid fish species oreochromis niloticus and tilapia zillii. Samples were collected monthly from the fish market of lake edku throughout the period from april 1986 to march 1987. |
