Abstract

With intensive selection for increased milk yield it is important to know how the cow’s reproductive performance and health are affected, in order to best consider them in the breeding program.
The main objectives of this study were:
- To investigate factors associated with incidence of reproductive disorders.
- To determine interrelationships of reproductive disorders.
- To evaluate the effects of reproductive disorders on
reproduction.
The fertility data used in this study came from two sources:
Health service and Milk Recording organization in Bavaria, Germany. Information from 1361 lactations of Fleckvieh cows was collected from 52 herds between June 1990 and August 1992.
Results can be summarized as follow: 1- Fertility traits
) A highly significant effect (P=<O.OOl) was found for parity (as ge) on days to first service while it had no significant effect on ays to conception, service per conception, conception status and onception rate at first service. Old cows, in general, had poorer ertility performance. However young cows at first parity had the ongest interval from calving to first service (ranged between 75.3 nd 73.1 days) and to conception (ranged from 92.8 and 95.2 days).
