Abstract
This article the prevalence of Klebsiella spp. recovered from horses, 207 faecal samples from diarrhoeic horses and 72 nasal swabs from horses suffering from respiratory manifestation A total of 81 Klebsiella strains were isolated with an incidence 29% from which 66 isolates were recovered from faecal samples with a percentage rate reaching 31.8% while 15 isolates were recovered from nasal swabs with an incidence 20.8% The most predominant Klebsiella species recovered from diarrhoeic horses was Klebsiella oxytoca 34 isolates with an incidence of 51.52% followed by Klebsiella pneumoniae 18 isolates (27.27%) and finally Klebsiella rhinoscleromatis 14 isolates (21.21%).The predominant species of Klebsiella recovered from horses suffering of respiratory manifestation was Klebsiella oxytoca 12 out of 15 with an incidence 80% followed by Klebsiella pneumoniae 3 (20%) while Klebsiella rhinoscleromatis could not be isolated. The biochemical identification were confirmed using API 10 S. The in vitro sensitivity of 21 isolates of Klebsiella pneumoniae, 46 isolates of Klebsiella oxytoca and 14 isolates of Klebsiella rhinoscleromatis were carried out against 14 different chemotherapeutic agents. .
