(syndrome X, metabolic syndrome) has become the major health problem of our times. It is a multifaceted syndrome characterized by obesity, hypertension, insulin resistance, glucose intolerance and dyslipidemia. The clinical importance of this syndrome is mainly due to the clustering of simultaneously occurring atherosclerotic risk factors in the same individual. |
