Abstract

This work, presented in this thesis, aimed to study the effect of growth regulators, microelements and the interaction between growth regulators and microelements on vegetative growth, flowering characteristics, tuber production and carbohydrate metabolism of dahlia plants (Dahlia Pinnate, Moonlight Sonate) in two successive seasons of 1984/85 and 1985/86.
In the first experiment dealing with growth regulators plants were sprayed three times GA3 at 25, 50 or 75 ppm, IAA at 25, 50 or 75 ppm or ethrel at 125, 250 or 500 ppm. In the second experiment concerning microelements, plants were sprayed three times with Cu at 10 or 20 ppm, Bo at 10 or 20 ppm or the two microelements Bo + Cu each at 10 or 20 ppm. The medium concentration of each of the three growth regulators, used in experiment 1 were chosen to be applied in combination with copper plus boron, either at 10 or 20 ppm in the third experiment.
Rooted cuttings were used in all of the three experiments and each experiment was designed in completely randomized blocks. Data were taken or individual plants.
