Abstract Medicinal and aromatic plants are regarded as great natural sources of active constituents needed in the manufacture of pharmacutical drugs perfumes, creams and powders allover the world. Among these plants, chamomile Matricari chamomilla linn.; yarrow Achillea mellifolium ; Black cumin Nigella Sativa L.; Adonis Adonis autumnalis L.; Cumin Cuminum cyminum L.;Anis pimplinella anisum L.; Caraway, Carium Carvi L.; Dill, Anethum graveoleus Linn.; Coriander Corianderum Sativum L. and Fennel Foeniculum Vulgare Mill. are the most important. However the constituents of such plants include essential oils which have several clinical purposes. Recently, cultivation of medicinal and aromatic plants has been increased in Middle Egypt due to the suitatility of prevailing climatic conditions which make the production of these crops rather promising. The problems of pests associated with medicinal and aromatic plants are one of the most important obstacles facing massive increase of their production. |
