Abstract A. Field study: This study was carried out on goats with pneumonia. A total number of 45 goats of both sexes; 35 goats were used during field study admitted to the Zagazig Veterinary Clinic with respiratory manifestations and were compared to 10 clinically healthy goats. I. Clinical examinations: Group one (10 goats): were apparently healthy goats used as control. Group two (23 moderate pneumonic goats): at early stage of pneumonia showed decreased appetite, polypnoea, cough and nasal discharge. Abnormal lung sounds heard on percussion and auscultation with highly significant increase in temperature and non significant changes in respiration and pulse in comparison to normal group Group three (12 severe pneumonic goats): at late stage of the disease showed signs of dyspnoea, anorexia, depression, recumbency, congested mucous membranes, painful moist cough and nasal discharge. Abnormal lung sounds heard on percussion and auscultation with highly significant increase in temperature, respiration and pulse compared to normal group. 11. Hematological examinations: In moderate and severe cases of pneumonia: highly significant decrease in hemoglobin, packed cell volume and lymphocytes and highly significant increase in total leucocytic count, neutrophils and monocytes. While, non significant changes in basophils. Esinophils showed non significant changes in moderate cases and highly significant increase in severe cases. |
