Abstract The aim of this study was to identify prognostic factors that may affect the outcome of endoscopic sinus surgery (ESS) in chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS). Therefore, we have evaluated the effect of ESS on olfaction, nasal nitric oxide (nNO), and nasal carbon monoxide (nCO).Sixty eight CRS patients were included in the study. Patients were followed up for a period of 12.35 ± 7.46 months. Preoperatively, history was taken and endoscopic examination and scoring were recorded. The patients filled the same questionnaire pre-operatively, 3 months, and at least 6 months after surgery. All patients had CT scans which were graded according to Lund-Mackay system. Olfactory performance was evaluated using the Sniffm’ Sticks pre-operatively and 3 months post-operatively. |
