Abstract
Identification and classification of solanaceae were the focus of much attention and studies for centuries both locally and internationally owing to the immense economic impotance of many of its species as vegetables ornaentals narcotics and sources of a wide variety of medicines however both taxonomic aspect were beset with numerous unresolved problems and unanswered questions. at the locelevel there was much confusion concerning the occurrence of several species among representatives of the family in egyption flora native introduced naturalized spontaneous and cultivated taxa were intermingled in toxonomic literature so that it became almost impossible to separate one category from the rest.
