Abstract

This study was conducted on 30 patients suffering from chronic HCV infection with or without cirrhosis (as proved by biopsy) as group I. They were randomly selected from those attending to the National Hepatology and Tropical Medicine Research Institute (N.H.T.M.R.I), they were of both sexes (21 males(70%) and 9 females (30%)) and their ages ranged from 19 to 54 years (mean 35.57 ± 7.981) and 30 normal individuals as group II, they were also randomly selected from those attending to the National Hepatology and Tropical Medicine Research Institute (N.H.T.M.R.I), they were of both sexes (27 males(90%) and 3 females (10%)) and their ages ranged from 25 to 45 years (mean 35.27 ± 5.489).
It was found that, there was no statistically significant difference between patients and control groups as regards the demographic factors.
It was also found that, there was statistically significant difference between patients and control groups as regards fatigue and bleeding tendency.
None of the patients or controls complained of encephalopathy, haematemesis,melena or ascites. All patients and controls had no symptoms or signs concerning the chest, cardiac or nervous systems.
