dimethoxytetrahydrofuran or Lawesson’s reagent ( LR) to give products 35-37, respectively. When compound 2 was allowed to react with hydrazine, ethyl benzoylacetate, acetic anhydride or acetyl chloride or triethylorthoformate gave compounds 38-41, respectively. Compound 3 was reacted with malononitrile, formamide, phenylisocyanate or phenylisothiocyanate to give compounds 42-44, respectively. Also, on treating compound 3 with ethyl cyano-acetate, ethyl benzoylacetate, acetyl chloride or acetic anhydride, hydrazine, 2,5-dimethoxytetrahydrofuran or triethylorthoformate afforded 45-50, respectively.
