Abstract serpentinite, peridotite, orthopyroxe~ite, metagabbros, fine-grained diorite and YOQnger gabbros cover a considerrable·part of the studied area of EI-Genena El-Gharbia. geosynclinal volcanogenic-metasedimentry sequence and the Shadli geosynclinal metavolcanics. Systematic sampling of the different rock unites was carried out from the exposed outcrops a~d drilled borehols. The petrographic study were corroborated by complete chemical analysis of representative s&~ples from the most cownon rock types. Semi-qua~titative spectrographic anaalysis was also carried OQt for some hundred rock samples. of the microscopic investigation and determined molecular norm. The classifications given by Nockolds (1954) and Streckcisen (lS76) were generally followed. Petrochemical. |
