Abstract
Reactions of khellin and visnagin with activated methylene and nitrile derivatives . visnagin (Ia) or khellin (Ib) reacted with malononitrile in Ac2O to give the corresponding 4-methoxy-5-(dicyanomethylene)-7--methy5h-furo[3,2-g] [1] benzopyran (IIa), and 4,9-dimrthoxy-5-(dicyanomethylene)-7-methy1-5h-furo[3,2-g] [1] benzopyran (IIb), respectively in excellrnt yieds.
