Abstract The objectives of this study were to: 1) Determine the profitability of crossing the Finnish Landrace sheep breed with Rahmani and Ossimi sheep breeds, 2) Estimate the relative economic weights of objective traits for Rahmani, Ossimi, (RFR)² and (OFO)² breed groups, 3) Develop criteria for genetic selection within breeds. These objectives have been studied under two management systems, one mating each year and three mating every two years. A bioeconomic simulation model of life-cycle sheep production was developed to mimic the performance of Egyptian breeds, environment and production systems. |
