Abstract

This thesis deals with the design and performance of the ordinary protection of the high Dam electrical power system . Also it concerned with the digital protective relay for three – phase power transformer of that electrical power system
.Thesis includes eight chapter.
these chapters are summarized as follows : Chapter 1 :In this chapter , the ordinary protection and its problems , which lead to amiss – operation has been discussed .
Chapter 2 :
This chapter , intro dunces a completed analysis of power system taken for study .
Chapter 3 :This chapter , deals with the magnetizing inrush current , M . I . C . , produced in to a power transformer which sometimes equal to the through fault current of the transformer , on the order of 8 – 15 time the transformer full load current rating .
Chapter 4 :
This chapter introduces a complete harmonic analysis for the fault currents and M . I . C . wave forms .
Chapter 5 :
In this chapter the comports of the protection system suitable for the power system under study have been studied in details .
Chapter 6 :
This chapter introduces an introduction to the artificial neural network ( ANN ) .
Chapter 7 :
This chapter introduces a digital protection by using an artificial – neural – network ( Ann )
Chapter 8 :
This chapter contains the conclusions obtained from this study.
