Abstract
This investigation was carried out during the three successive seasons 1996,1997 and 1998 at the Experimental farm of El-Minia University .
The main objective of this study was devoted to transfer the remarkable earliness character from the variety C.B. 58 to both the Egyptian varieties Giza 80 and Giza 83 . Moreover, to study heterosis, inbreeding depression, potence ratio,type of gene action, heritability in both broad and narrow senses, genetic advance under selection and phenotypic and genotypic correlations between characters for earliness, yield and yield components and fiber properties in the two intra-specific cotton crosses between three varieties belonging to Gossypium barbadense L.. Cross I (Giza 80 and C.B. 580) and cross II(Giza 83 and C.B. 58). The six populations , P1, P2, F1, F2, BC1 and BC2 were grown in 1998 season in a randomized complete block design with four replications.
