Abstract
This study was carried out at hte experimental farm of the animal production depertment, faclty of agriculture, Minia university.
The total number of Ossimi ewes and lambs used in this investigation was I29 .the histological study was carried out on the skin of 25 Ossimi ewes and lamps taken at rendum.
Resulats obtained show that averages of number of secondary follicles persquare millimeter in the skin were I7.0 and I9.4 at birth and at 6 months respectively.older gwes had lower density, values were I586 and II,02 newes of 2 and over 6 years of age.
The density of primary fullicles per squere millimeter in the skin deoreased from I5.9 at birth to 4.3 in ewes that were more than 6 years of age. As sheep grew older.obviously the body surface increased.
The secondaey to primary follicle (S/P) ratio increased from I.07 at birth to 3.I at six monthes aftter birth. Values were 3.I5 and 2.6 in ewes at 2 years and more the 6 years of age.
Age hed a highly significant effect on the external and internal diameters of wool fallicles .the external and internal diameter of primary follicles showed a higher increase in summer than that in winter .in ewes of 2-4 yearso of age
