Abstract Many experiments have been carried out in this work for the preparation of certain unstable drugs, which have not been thcrnughly studied, in stable supoositoryftrnul’tins, since many crugs were proved to suffer many defects in stsbility when they were formulated in such dosage forms. Severl groups c4f suppositories of these drugs were prepored uRinp difeerent typeo of suppository bases, surfactants and antioxidants to find out the most stable suppository formula. The stability of suppositories of each group was eva].— uated both physically and chemically. Physical stability studies included colour chanpe, mechanicol strenpth, disin— tegration time, surface inspection, interro1 inspection and heat stability. The modified U.S.P. Tablet )isintegrstion apparatus ws used to determine drug release behaviour from different suppository bases. Modification in suppository formulations was achieved by adding surface active agents, so as to enhance the r’te of drug releases Since most drug degradation was promoted by increasing the temporature, the effect of the storage temrerture was studied. |
