Abstract Wadi Allaqi gold mineralization is expressed in gold-bearing quartz veins spreading over 15 gold occurrences to form the southwestern group in the Eastern Desert of Egypt. The mineralization is completely confined to the basement complex rocks evolved entiely during Pan-African orogeny(Late Proterozoic). Regionally, the mineralization shows close spatial association with island arc domains and occasionally with ophiolitic melange ones. The mineralization does not shows an association with any phase of magmatic activites. The mineralization was developed prior to the intrusion of late-tectonic rock assemblage and subsequent to the emplacement of the syn-tectonic granitoids. |
