Abstract

Aim of the work
To study the role of tendon graft in tendon injuries of the hand as one of the prescribed lines of management providing a summarized protocol including indications, contraindications, technique and possible complications.
Conclusion
The most commonly used tendon graft is Palmaris Longus other sources include Plantaris, Tendon of long extensors of Toes, extensor indicis proprius, extensor digitorum communis and flexor digitorum sublimis.
It is essential to do reconstruction of tendon pulleys when reconstructive procedures, including single stage and two stage graft reconstructions, without the presence of the pulleys, the angle of approach of the tendon to its insertion is altered, retinacular restraints are damaged, a flexion contracture frequently develops at the proximal interphalangeal joint, bowstringing of plamar skin occurs and tendon excursion is lost. If the finger is left without the function of the A2 and A4 pullyes, it will not function satisfactorily after tenolysis, and tendon graft reconstruction will be useless.
Complications can occur during tendon grasfting including rupture, adhesions, flexioncontracture, bowstringing, lumbricalplus quadrigia syndrome and etc.
